Dr. Peter J. Pronovost to Deliver Keynote at 2015 National Client Conference

Press Ganey is pleased to announce that Dr. Peter J. Pronovost, Director of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, Johns Hopkins, joins General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) on the roster of keynote speakers for the 2015 Press Ganey National Client Conference November 10-12.

Dr. Pronovost is an internationally recognized authority on patient safety, devising lifesaving clinical practices that are yielding dramatic improvements in hospitals across the United States and around the world. He is a practicing intensive care physician, researcher and teacher who is dedicated to improving patient safety by applying science to the delivery of therapies.

Dr. Pronovost also is a successful leadership innovator, developing ways to motivate healthcare professionals to change the culture of their institutions in ways that reduce medical errors and hospital-acquired infections. One of Dr. Pronovost's most notable contributions includes introducing an intensive care checklist protocol that saved 1,500 lives and $100 million in Michigan during its first 18 months.

In 2008, Dr. Pronovost received a MacArthur Fellowship, commonly known as a "genius grant," for his work and was named one of the world's most influential people of 2008 by TIME magazine. For several years, he has been named one of the top 50 physician executives by Modern Healthcare, which also recognized him in 2014 as one of the 100 most influential people in healthcare.

He is the coauthor of a book on patient safety, Safe Patients, Smart Hospital:  How One Doctor's Checklist Can help Us Change Health Care from the Inside Out, and the author of more than 200 articles and chapters on patient safety, ICU care, quality healthcare, evidence-based medicine and the measurement and evaluation of safety efforts.
